The Fruitport baseball team had a tough time getting its offense going on Tuesday and dropped both ends of a conference doubleheader to Hudsonville Unity Christian.

Fruitport lost the opener 3-0 despite outhitting Unity 3-1. The loss wasted a great pitching performance by Ryan Bosch, who threw a no-hit shutout for five innings and struck out eight batters.

Bosch, Avery Lambers and Christian Kennedy each had one hit for the Trojans.

Fruitport lost the second game 7-0.

Kennedy and Braxton Ward had the only hits for Fruitport. Kennedy started on the mound, giving up six runs on seven hits through 2 2/3 innings, striking out three.

“Their pitchers did a nice job of attacking us and we just couldn’t seem to square it up,” said Fruitport Coach Nick Reed.

The Trojans, now 2-5 overall and 0-5 in O-K Blue conference play, will host Unity Christian in the series finale on Thursday.
