The Fruitport boys soccer team clinched at least a share of the overall O-K Silver conference championship on Thursday by beating visiting Hopkins 2-0 in the semifinal round of the conference tournament.
The victory put the Trojans in Monday’s tournament championship game against NorthPointe Christian at home.
By finishing first in the regular season conference standings, then advancing to the finals of the O-K Silver tournament, Fruitport will win at least a share of its third straight conference crown.

A victory on Monday would give the Trojans the outright championship.
Fruitport scored both of its goals in the first half.
Quincy McDaniels scored the first goal, with an assist from Hudson Hazekamp. Coke Luker made it 2-0 with an assist from Hazekamp.

The second half was scoreless. Fruitport goalie Sebastian Sweet made two saves in the game to record the shutout.
“I don’t think it was our best overall effort tonight, but we found a way,” said Fruitport head coach Dan Hazekamp. “Sometimes when it’s not all clicking you have to find a way, and I’m proud of our guys for digging deep and finding a result against a solid Hopkins team.
“To be in a position to clinch at least a share of a conference championship in a really tough conference is a testament to our guys and their continued growth.”
