Even when a high school volleyball team easily beats an opponent, the losing team usually manages to score in double figures in every set.

That did not happen on Thursday.

The powerful Fruitport volleyball team literally plowed past Kelloggsville in an O-K Silver conference matchup, beating the Rockets by scores of 25-6, 25-17, 25-6.

The Trojans improved to 18-4-4 overall on the season and 4-0 in the conference standings.

The one-sided victory was very appropriate, because it was Senior Night at Fruitport, and all of the Trojans’ seniors –  Addison Bordeaux, Izzy Hanson-Wilbur, Emma Fecher, Josalynn Nowicki and Alexa Sweet – are very strong players who play key roles on the team.

“This group of five seniors are extremely special,” said first-year Fruitport head coach Samantha Fehler. “They’ve played together for awhile now, and have accomplished a lot of things over the years. I am grateful to be part of their final season.

“They are competitive, genuine, caring, and supportive. They know how to compete, and they bring so much energy to the team with their fierce personalities. I am so excited to see how they continue to help lead the team.”

Bordeaux led the offense with six kills and Fecher and Nowicki had five apiece.

Fecher dished out 12 assists followed by Sweet with 10. Hansen-Wilbur led defensively with seven digs.

The Trojans will play on Tuesday at Spring Lake in a double dual.
