The Fruitport girls tennis team clearly did not get too rusty over spring break.
The Trojans returned to action on Tuesday with a resounding 8-0 victory over Kelloggsville in their first O-K Silver conference match of the season.
Fruitport was dominant from top to bottom, winning all eight matches in straight sets. The Trojans won 48 of 51 games in singles and 48 of 54 in doubles.
Abby Poort had a clean sweep at No. 3 singles, downing Ha Tran 6-0, 6-0. Also posting singles victories were Josalynn Nowicki (No. 1), Emma Fecher (No. 2) and Brystol Tenhove (No. 4).

Rylee Rufener and Kaitlyn Tenbrink (No. 2 doubles) and Jayla Pryslek and Candela Pena (No. 4 doubles) also won with perfect 6-0, 6-0 scores.
Other doubles winners were Cara Hooker and Lena Saffell (No. 1) and Jordan Smith and Ava Robinson (No. 3).
“We had a good team win,” said Fruitport head coach Brad Busscher. “Some girls played for the first time today and performed well. Others continued to improve parts of their games. It was particularly good for the coaches to see our doubles combinations play well in competition together at their flights.
“Our singles were poised and in control throughout much of their matches. Let’s continue to grow and improve for our next match.”
