The Fruitport boys bowling team got back into the win column last week, and remains very much in the thick of the O-K Silver conference championship race.

The Trojans started off with a perfect 6-0 conference record this season, then finally lost a match to Calvin Christian last week.

They rebounded on Wednesday, however, downing NorthPointe Christian 19-11 in a tight contest.

Fruitport and Calvin Christian are currently tied for first place in the O-K Silver with 6-1 records. The Trojans have seven more conference matches left, starting with a big one at Belding on Tuesday.

They will have a rematch with Calvin Christian on Feb. 11.

The Trojans had to work hard to get past NorthPointe, particularly after coming out of the early baker rounds with a 6-4 deficit.

They gained eight crucial points by winning both of the regular games, 719-661 and 796-723.

Fruitport also won the overall regular game pin total, 1,15-1,384, adding two more team points.

The winning margin came in the individual matchups within the two regular games.

Fruitport won three of five matchups in Game 1, adding three team points. Keenan Camp, Dylan Winskas and Peyton Wirt were the winners, with Camp rolling a team-high 181 game.

The Trojans won two of five matchups in Game 2, with Camp and Winskas taking their games. Camp rolled a team-high 170.

“These past few weeks, with our busy competition schedule, have taught us a lot and we are excited to be back in the win column,” said Fruitport head coach Tim McKeeby. “We will use this win to propel us forward and continue fighting for a conference title.”mini
