LAST YEAR: The Trojans struggled, posting a 3-10 overall record. They were 3-9 in O-K Silver conference action and finished in sixth place in the standings. They ended the season by placing seventh at regionals.
TOP RETURNERS: They say practice makes perfect, and the Trojans got a lot of it last season, which should come in real handy this time around. All five starters are back this season, and while none of them became a real standout last year, they should all be improved, which should push the team up in the standings. The co-captains are Harper Simila, who earned All-Conference honorable-mention status last season, and junior Genevieve Franklin, whose goal is to average 120 this season. Also back are sophomore Mya Herrygers, who spent the offseason working on her approach; sophomore Kyleigh O’Connell, who showed some potential by leading the team at regionals last season; and sophomore Maddie Smith, who also has a goal of bowling a 120 average this season.

PROMISING NEWCOMER: Sophomore Ava Bradshaw is the lone newcomer, and the only other member of the team beyond the five returning starters, so she should see a lot of action. Bradshaw has a lot of potential, according to Coach Tim McKeeby.
REAL HOPE FOR THE FUTURE: With two juniors and four sophomores on the roster – and no seniors – the Trojans will be preparing for next year even as they compete this season. All six members of the team will be back next year and the eventual results could be very good.

STRENGTHS/CHALLENGES: McKeeby said the team will benefit from great chemistry between the players, and a common determination to flip the record and have a winning season. The biggest challenge will be an overall lack of experience for a group of girls who are still learning.
FIRST MATCH: Monday on the road against Allendale.
COACH QUOTE: ”We are looking forward to improving from the last few seasons.” – Tim McKeeby
