LAST YEAR: The Fruitport boys did very well last season, finishing 11-4-1 overall and 9-4-1 in the O-K Silver conference standings, which was good for third place. The Trojans also finished in third place in regionals and fell just 15 pins shy of qualifying for the Division 2 state finals.

RETURNING STARTERS: The exciting news is that four of the Trojans’ five starters from last year are back, meaning this season could be even more successful. Two standout co-captains will lead the attack, including junior Bradley Dekker, who had a 173 average last year, finished seventh individually in the conference and won first-team All-Conference honors. The other co-captain is senior Keenan Camp, who posted a 171 average last season, finished ninth in the conference and was also first-team All-Conference. Junior Corbin Judd also returns after posting a 155 average last season, along with sophomore Dylan Winskas, a lefty who was among the area’s top freshmen last season.

PROVIDING DEPTH: Junior Peyton Wirt will become the fifth starter on the varsity squad while freshman Kenny Bochenek-Simonis, junior Remy Parker and junior Troy Dykstra are candidates to fill the final two varsity roster spots. Senior Devin Winskas and sophomores Boden Blackmer and Hunter Meister will start out at the junior varsity level and could move up during the season.

ROSTER BREAKDOWN: There are 15 boys in the Fruitport program this season, with seven comprising the varsity roster and eight making up the JV roster. The future should continue to be bright for the Trojans, with only two seniors in the group this year, along with seven juniors, three sophomores and three freshmen.

TEAM STRENGTHS: The Trojans biggest strengths are experience, team chemistry and a determination to get over the hurdle at regionals this season and qualify as a team for the state finals, according to head coach Tim McKeeby.

FIRST MATCH: Monday on the road against Allendale in a non-conference matchup.
