The Fruitport volleyball team occasionally has its moments of struggle, but when the big moments come, the Trojans usually perform.
That was the case on Thursday, when the Trojans traveled to face NorthPointe Christian in a battle for first place in the O-K Silver conference standings, as well as the top seed at next week’s conference tournament.
Fruitport handled the challenge with ease, winning in three straight sets, 25-12, 25-18, 25-16.

The Trojan attack was spread out, with a lot of girls scoring points. Ellie Stroup and Emma Fecher led the way with eight and five kills, respectively.
Alexa Sweet had 10 assists while Emma Fecher added nine.
Defensively, Sweet had 13 digs while Stroup totaled 10.

“Our girls played like the number one team,” said Fruitport Coach Nicole Bayle. “Both of our setters did a fantastic job spreading the ball around, and we had seven of our attackers with kills tonight. I am very proud of these girls for the way they stepped up.
“I had a chat yesterday with Stroup and Danicek about carrying the stress of our team and playing like leaders, and they did just that!”
The Trojans, 21-10-1 overall and 7-0 in conference play, will battle for local supremacy on Saturday at the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association Tournament, with every team in the county competing.
