The Fruitport girls golf team is still learning about competing at the varsity level, but the Trojans have turned in some pretty hopeful performances over the busy past week.
On Tuesday they competed in the annual Greater Muskegon Athletic Association City Tournament at Chase Hammond, against every other team in the county, and had three players in the top 30 of the individual standings.
Sophomore Maddie Anderson was the top Trojan, shooting a 102 and finishing in 18th place. Kendall Lee shot a 104, her best 18-hole score to date, and finished 19th. Ava Powell shot a 118, tying her best 18-hole score, and took 28th place.

Jayla Pryslek also had a personal best day, posting a 126 and finishing in 35th place.
As a team, the Trojans finished in sixth place with a 450 score. Montague won the championship.
On Saturday the Trojans competed in an O-K Silver conference jamboree at Ironwood Golf Course and performed really well, shooting a nine-hole score of 215, their best of the season so far.
Two Trojans finished among the top 20 individuals. Anderson shot a 46 and finished in sixth place while Powell shot her best nine-hole high school round with a 49 and finished 12th, just one shot out of being tied for ninth. Lee shot a 54 and took 17th place.

As a team the Trojans posted a 215 score and finished in fourth place. NorthPointe Christian won the event with a 168.
On Sept. 19 the Trojans did really well, shooting a combined 448 and finishing in third place at the Lady Lions Invite, hosted by Newaygo High School, at the Village Green Golf Course.
Greenville finished first with 369 score.
Anderson soared to third place with a score of 96, which was her best 18-hole mark for a high school event.

Lee finished 10th with a score of 106. She birdied for the first time in a high school event.
Powell shot a 118 and finished in 26th place. She posted her lowest 18-hole score and was shot par on a hole for the first time in high school.
Tatum Anderson shot a 128, her best 18-hole performance in high school, and finished 36th. Pryslek shot a 129 and finished 38th.
