The Fruitport wrestling team warmed up for a busy and important week ahead on by posting a 3-2 at the Shelby Super Duals on Saturday.
The Trojans defeated Grant 53-18, Mason County Central 78-0 and Sparta 43-32.
They lost their last two matches to a pair of traditional wrestling powers – Hart (60-18) and Pine River (38-30). The two losses were Fruitport’s first of the season.
Ethan Riggs was the Trojan of the day, winning in every match and posting a perfect 5-0 record.

Cooper Lengkeek, Davis Johnson and Blair Zimmer were each 4-1; Alex Aardema, Kalan Teeter, Carsen Crow and Chase Rosema were 3-2; and Luke Westerlund was 2-1.
The Trojans are now 11-2 overall on the season and 4-0 in the O-K Silver conference matchups.
They will have their final conference dual match of the season on Tuesday against Kelloggsville at Forest Hills Northern. The Trojans will also wrestle Forest Hills Central in a non-conference match.
On Friday, they will compete for a conference championship at the O-K Silve tournament at Belding.
“Back to work Monday to start focusing on the week ahead and make a few adjustments, with the ‘never satisfied, always looking to improve’ mentality,” said Fruitport head coach Chad Johnson.
