The Trojans have now won five of their last six games

Four players scored in double figures, helping lead the Fruitport boys basketball team to a win in its first conference game of the season.

Fruitport , now 6-2 overall on the season, has won five of its last six games.

DayDay Williams

“We are excited to have started O-K Silver games off on a good foot, and look forward to the many challenges ahead,” Coach Steve Erny said.

Erny said Friday’s game wasn’t his group’s sharpest outing, but a strong second half helped the Trojans pull away for the 12-point win.

Fruitport led 17-8 after one quarter, 32-24 at halftime and 45-38 after three quarters.

The Trojans nailed down the win with a big 26-point fourth quarter.

Grade Anspach

“While we did not play our best game, especially defensively, our group did a nice job of responding in the second half and extending a lead by the end of the game,” the coach said.

Junior DayDay Williams led the Trojans with 19 points, followed by senior Grade Anspach with 18. Freshman Dexter Lillmars scored 16 for the Trojans and sophomore Hudson Hazekamp chipped in 12.

The Trojans will return home Tuesday to face Hopkins in another conference matchup. The Vikings are 2-7 on the season, including 0-1 in the conference.minith brands
