The Fruitport girls bowling team got off to a great start on Friday with a 22-8 victory over Allendale in non-conference action.

Zach Durakovic, Michael Hanson and Bradley Dekker each had wins for Fruitport in Game 1, earning Fruitport three points. The Trojans also earned four points for winning the game 3-2.

Hanson had the high score for the Trojans with a 177.

Dylan Winskas, Durakovic and Dekker each won in Game 2, earning three more points, plus the two-point bonus for the 3-2 team win.

Hanson again had the high score for Fruitport in Game 2 – 158 – even though he lost his game.

Fruitport received four team points for winning the overall pin total in the two regular games. The Trojans also won the first of the two baker games for two points, and received two more for winning the overall baker total.

“I am glad that we could open up our season against Allendale,” said Fruitport Coach Tim McKeeby. “They are well coached and have a great bowling program.

“I am proud of our varsity boys team for their nice win. Michael Hanson’s experience and leadership helped guide us to victory. The hard work that the boys are putting in is already paying off.”

The Fruitport girls team, with has a lot of first-time bowlers, lost to Allendale 27-3.

Harper Simila, Gen Franklin and Kadie Juska each won a game to earn the Trojans’ points.

Simila had the team’s high score in Game 1 with a 147. Joe Pider was the top Trojan in Game 2 with a 147.

“Our girls team has lots of potential and I am proud of them for doing their best and improving with each roll,” McKeeby said. “Allendale has some serious bowlers and we are inspired to bowl like them in the near future.”storagemini
