The Fruitport girls basketball team matched its win total from last season on Thursday with a 36-31 victory over Montague.
The Trojans, now 4-1 on the season, overcame a disappointing one-point loss to Whitehall on Tuesday to get the win.
Fruitport led for most of the contest, with a 10-4 advantage after one quarter, a 21-15 edge at halftime and a 27-19 lead after three.

Montague made a run in the fourth quarter to make the score close, but the Trojans iced the win with a few key buckets and free throws down the stretch.
Izzy Hanson-Wilbur had 14 points, seven rebounds and three steals for Fruitport. Ashton Olson added 12 points, five rebounds and four steals.
“Our girls lost a close one on Tuesday and were committed to doing what it took to win this one,” said Fruitport Coach Brian Packard. “We knew that if we beat them on the boards and in the turnover department we would have a chance. We did that and it was a total team effort on the glass. We only had five scorers, but had eight girls with rebounds.”
Fruitport will return to action next Friday at home against North Muskegon.
