Fruitport bowlers Michael Hanson and Kaylynn Pavlige both had career-high game scores on Monday, but it wasn’t quite enough to push their teams to victory.
The Fruitport boys lost to Coopersville 23-7 in O-K Blue conference action while the girls fell to the Broncos 27-3.
In the boys match, the Trojans fell behind 10-0 in baker games (combined score bowling), then picked up three points in the individual rounds. Hanson and Josh VanStelle both won first-round games for Fruitport, earning two team points, while Hanson won in the second round, earning another point.
Hanson’s career-high game came in the first round when he bowled a 246.

The Trojans also earned four points for winning the pin total in the second individual round, 837-831, but it was not enough to offset Coopersville’s lead.
Bradon Krohn had a good night for Fruitport, bowling games of 202 and 201 for a 403 series.
The Fruitport boys are now 2-2 overall and in conference matches this season.
“We had a great game plan going into the match today and tried our best to stay true to that plan,” said Fruitport coach Tim McKeeby. “For the most part, our guys bowled above their averages and reached for their personal best. Coopersville simply outbowled us. We are ready to finish off the opening stretch of the season with a win on Wednesday.”

In the girls match, the Trojans scored their only points with three victories in the individual rounds.
Pavlige earned one team point with a win in the first round, then Pavilige and Reba Willis claimed two more team points with wins in the second round.
Pavlige bowled a career-high 144 game in the second round.
“Although short one bowler today, we bowled well,” McKeeby said. “This group of athletes are on the cusp of consistency. I am proud of our girls team and their hard work. They are committed to the sport and are working hard to achieve success.”
The Fruitport girls are now 1-3 overall and in conference play.
