After a tight first half, the Mona Shores boys basketball team pulled away from Holland in the second half to pick up an OK Green win Tuesday night.
A career-high 27 points from Parker Swartz helped push the Sailors over the top in a 68-57 win.
Mona Shores trailed 17-15 after one quarter and the game was tied 27-27 heading to the half. The Sailors then used a 21-13 edge in the fourth to pull ahead on the way to the victory.
Ethan Krueger chipped in with 15 points and seven rebounds for Mona Shores. Jordan Bledsoe added seven points while Keontae Richards and Demetri Roberson had six each.
Mona Shores is now 9-10 overall and 6-7 on conference play. The Sailors will finish the regular season against Wyoming on Friday.
OK Conference
GRANDVILLE 64, GRAND HAVEN 62 — The Buccaneers’ conference title hopes took a hit with a close loss against Grandville on Tuesday. Grand Haven is now 11-2 in the OK Red, one game behind Rockford at 12-1.
Both teams play their final conference game Friday night, and Grand Haven will need a win and a Rams loss to get a share of the title.
Bashir Neely scored 25 points to lead Grand Haven, followed by Tucker Kooi with 13 and Harrison Sorrelle with 12.
The Bucs are now 16-2 overall this season.
HUDSONVILLE 65, JENISON 39 — Hudsonville took control early and led for most of the game in an OK Red victory Tuesday night.
The Eagles led 17-10 after one quarter and 23-14 at halftime. They widened the gap to 51-31 after three quarters before putting the game away in the fourth.
Brayden Szamrej led Hudsonville with 16 points and Aden Zank added 14.
The Eagles are now 8-11 overall this season and 6-7 in conference play.
SPRING LAKE 62, HAMILTON 49 — After falling behind early, the Lakers dominated the second and third quarters to claim an OK Blue win.
Hamilton took a 17-13 lead after one quarter on the strength of five three-pointers. Spring Lake tightened up its defense in the second, grabbing a 21-7 edge to give the Lakers a 34-24 halftime lead. A 10-3 edge in the third quarter extended the Spring Lake lead to 44-27.
Kaden George scored a game-high 18 points for the Lakers while Porter Saunders had a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds. Zach Schlepp added 13 points.
Spring Lake is now 8-10 overall, including 5-8 in conference play.
COOPERSVILLE 53, ALLENDALE 48 — The Broncos overcame a rough first quarter to rally for an OK Blue win Tuesday night.
Allendale led 16-5 after the opening quarter, but Coopersville used an 18-8 edge in the second to pull within 24-23 at halftime. The Broncos took a 36-35 lead into the final quarter.
Isaiah Currie scored a career-high 24 points to lead the Broncos, while Travis Rosel added 13.
Coopersville is now 11-6 this season, including 8-5 in the OK Blue.
NON-CONFERENCE
FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 75, HESPERIA 31 — The Eagles dominated the first half with a 47-18 edge and cruised to a non-conference win.
Bradley Richards once again led FCC with 25 points, all in the first half. Ethan Cammenga added a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Jacob May had 11 points and seven assists.
Ian Fox led Hesperia with 10 points.
Calvary Christian is now 13-5 on the season, including a 4-3 mark in the Alliance League. Hesperia falls to 1-15 overall and is 0-10 in the CSAA Silver.
