The Fruitport Calvary girls basketball team continued its solid season with a 38-34 win over Zion Christian on Friday in an Alliance League game.

The Eagles led 8-7 after the first quarter, then extended the lead to 25-15 at halftime.

Zion Christian cut the deficit to 32-30 heading into the fourth quarter before the Eagles closed out the game with an 8-2 run.Cate Anhalt paced the Eagles with 14 points, while McKena Wilson and Nora Pollock each scored six.

Fruitport Calvary improved to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.

MANISTEE 69, ORCHARD VIEW 30 – The Cardinals fall to Manistee in Lakes 8 Conference action on Friday night.

OV trailed 19-3 after one quarter, 36-7 at halftime and 55-23 after the third quarter.

Hikari Katsuzawa led the Cardinals with 11 points and six assists. Grace Gardner chipped in with 10 points, while Tionne Steward had six points and eight steals.

WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 72, MUSKEGON CATHOLIC CENTRAL 16 — The Warriors defeat the Crusaders in Lakes 8 Conference play on Friday night.

The Warriors led 20-5 after one quarter, 42-10 at halftime, and 58-12 after three quarters of play.

The Crusaders were led by Sara Albanese with six points.

WMC improves to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in Lakes 8 play, while MCC falls to 3-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

HOLTON 28, HESPERIA 14 – The Red Devils won their fourth game in a row and improved to 5-2 on the season.

June Newell tossed in 16 points for Holton, Ryann Robins had seven points and 10 rebounds and Abby Fowler added five points, five assists and five steals.
