The Reeths-Puffer wrestling team got off to a great start to its season on Wednesday, beating Mona Shores 44-21 and Spring Lake 54-16 in a pair of team dual matches.
Against Mona Shores, Ian Cook (119) and Nathan Stafford (285) both won with pins. Kaden Malotke (140) won his match 17-5; Omillion Wyrick (171) won 12-3; Caleb Zimmerman (189) won 4-1 and Nathan Straley (215) won 6-1.
Against Spring Lake, Wesley Gaunt (171), Colton McKinnon (140), Malotke (135), Cook (112), Zimmerman (189) and Stafford (285) all won by pins.
Whitehall wrestling opens with a pair of victories
The Whitehall wrestling team beat Kent City 58-18 and Comstock Park 75-3 on Wednesday.
Winning two matches for the Vikings were Nolan Toranko (103), Riley Buys (130), Aiden Weiler (140), Max Brown (145), Wyatt Jenkins (160), Nick Blanchard (171), Shane Cook (215) and Ira Jenkins (285).
Single-match winners for Whitehall were Braedon Bond (112), Caden Varela (119), Ryne Christensen (125), Darnell Mack (189) and Bradyn VanPatten (189).
Hudsonville downs Hartford, falls to Stevensville-Lakeshore
The Hudsonville wrestling team split a pair of dual matches on Wednesday, beating Hartford 78-3 but losing to Stevensville Lakeshore 51-24.
Winners for Hudsonville against Hartford were Conor McAlary (112), Jack DeWildt (125), Michael Biggar (130), Luke Rotter (135), Tyler Arntz (140), Jacob Rotter (145), Jaxon Siler (152), Wyatt Hoeksema (171), John Bushman (215) and Delbert Smith (285).
Against Stevensville Lakeshore, winners were McAlary (103), Arntz (140), Jacob Rotter (145), Devin Mervau (189) and Bushman (215).
Hesperia loses a close one to Big Rapids, rebounds to beat Evart
The Hesperia wrestling team lost to Big Rapids 37-33 on Wednesday, then rebounded to beat Evart 54-24.
Winning matches for the Panthers were Lewis Hasty, Scott Quinn, Skylar Stalbaum, River Roberson, Brandon Quinn, Joris Fabian, Deegan Klaus, Kaiden Brown, Blake Sayer, Alex Sayer and Isaac Eaves.
