Reeths-Puffer and Ludington started the boys basketball season in thrilling fashion, needing overtime to decide their non-conference game Tuesday night. The Rockets came out ahead in the extra session and topped the Orioles 65-59.
Reeths-Puffer held a small lead after a high scoring first quarter, 21-17. The offenses cooled in the second as the Rockets extended their margin to 30-22.
Ludington dominated the third frame to take the lead, 39-37, heading into the fourth quarter. Both offenses found a groove in the fourth, with Reeths-Puffer pulling even and sending the game to overtime tied at 57-57.
The Rockets outscored Ludington 6-2 in the extra frame to grab the win.
Travis Ambrose led the charge for Reeths-Puffer with a 25 point outburst as well as a strong performance on the boards. Jaxson Whitaker chipped in 15 points for R-P.

David Shillinger led the Orioles in scoring with 23 points while Peyton LaCombe had a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds.
The win puts Reeths-Puffer at 1-0, while Ludington starts the season 0-1.
