The Spring Lake football team almost overcame an early 21-point deficit, but fell 35-28 to Allendale in an O-K Blue Conference matchup.
The Lakers trailed 14-0 after the first quarter and 28-7 at halftime.
Spring Lake scored its first touchdown while trailing 21-0 on a 40-yard touchdown pass from Jackson Core to Andrew Vonwahlde.
The Lakers outscored Allendale 21-0 during the third quarter to tie the game 28-28.
Vonwahlde scored on a 19-yard run, Core completed a touchdown pass to Derrick Paggeot and then threw a pass for a 48-yard score to Joe Westhoff.
The comeback fell just short, though, as Allendale scored the winning touchdown on an eight-yard run by Tyler Sparks.
The Lakers were led by Core, who threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns on the night.
Paggeot led the Lakers in receiving with 86 yards and a touchdown. Vonwahlde notched 85 yards receiving and a touchdown of his own, along with 84 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
The Lakers were paced defensively by R.J. Lisman with nine tackles. Vonwahlde, Carter Sabo and Jackson Duggins each added five.
Spring Lake finished its season 6-3 overall and 4-3 in the O-K Blue Conference.
