Whitehall and Fremont showed what a great district soccer game is all about with Whitehall winning a 1-0 thriller in Division 2 opening round action.
After a scoreless first half where Fremont had multiple chances, Whitehall capitalized 13 minutes into the second half on a Kyren Bluhm assist to Jack McDowell who buried it to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead.
Fremont pressed hard to get the equalizer, but failed, allowing Whitehall to seal the 1-0 victory.
Fremont outshot Whitehall 14-4 on the night with Carter Miller tallying3 saves in net for Fremont while Whitehall’s Andon Palmer ended with 14 saves in net.
Fremont finishes the season 12-4-4 while Whitehall improves to 8-8-1 and will face Fruitport on Tuesday in the semifinal round.
