The Fremont Packers forced two turnovers Friday night to keep their game against Grant close, but ultimately fell short 20-14 after the Tigers scored two late touchdowns.
Fremont took an early lead on a three-yard touchdown run by Justin Dirheimer with 7:25 left in the first quarter. Grant scored in the second quarter, but the PAT attempt was no good.
Nobody scored in the second quarter, and Fremont led 7-6 at halftime.
Owen Hurtel scored on a six-yard run early in the third quarter, and the extra point gave the Packers a 14-6 lead. But Grant added two late touchdowns to steal the win.
Dirheimer led the Packers on offense, rushing for 102 yards and a touchdown. Alex Gleason added 29 yards on the ground
Defensively, Hayden Threatt topped the Packers’ tackle count with eight, six of which were solo. Dirheimer bolstered his strong night on offense with 3 tackles for losses, which led the team.
Fremont falls to 0-5 on the season, and will look to get its season back on track next week against Tri-County.
