The top two runners on the Fruitport cross country team stack up very well against their top conference opponents.
They showed that on Wednesday in the first O-K Silver conference meet of the season, hosted by Fruitport at Rycenga Park.
Fruitport junior Christian Pavlige took first place individually with a time of 17:06. He was a full 40 seconds faster that second-place Bennett Piippo of NorthPointe Christian.

Trojan junior Dylan Winskas finished sixth overall with a time of 18:21.
“Christian won easily,” said Fruitport head coach Randy Johnson. “He just cruised in the second half of the race. Dylan ran great too, keeping up with the boys that he wanted to beat.”
The Trojans finished third in the team competition with 76 points.

Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian took first with 33 points, followed by Hopkins (72), Belding (80) and Calvin Christian (107).
Fruitport freshman Corbin Jansheski finished 22nd overall with a time of 20:20 while freshman Landon Przybylek took 25th with a time of 20:29.
“We had some good performances today, but NorthPointe Christian is a very strong team this year,” Johnson said.
