Serving can be a huge advantage in volleyball.

If a lot of your team’s serves are so good they cannot be returned, chances are a victory is coming.

The Fruitport volleyball team demonstrated that on Thursday, serving up 15 aces en route to a very easy three-set victory over Comstock Park in O-K Silver conference play.

The set scores were 25-11, 25-14, 25-11.

The high-flying Trojans improved to0 12-2–2 overall and 3–0 in conference play.

Leading the ace assault were Alexa Sweet led with four and Regan Wilson and Porter Johnson with three apiece.

“The whole team was aggressive behind the service line,” said Fruitport head coach Samantha Fehler. “Each player served at least one ace.”

Rowynn Miller led the Trojans’ offensive effort with eight kills while Izzy Hanson-Wilbor added six.

Alexa Sweet and Emma Fecher had 11 and 10 assists, respectively.

Hanson-Wilbur led the defense with 13 digs while Fecher and Wilson eadh had 11.

“It was another great team win for the Trojans, as every player contributed,” Fehler said. “We’ve been working on being focused on our side of the net and controlling the controllables. The girls have been doing a good job of holding each other accountable.”

The Trojans will compete in the Byron Center Invitational on Saturday.
