The Fruitport girls cross country team had seven girls finish among the top 20 at Saturday’s Hill and Bale Invitational in Fremont.
The Trojans finished in second place in the team standings with 32 points, just behind Zeeland East, which finished with a score of 26.
Wyoming Potter’s House and White Cloud completed the field with scores of 86 and 102, respectively.
Senior Zoe German was the Trojans’ top runner with a time of 21:06, which was good for second place. Junior Peyhton Beardsley was fifth with a time of 22:57.
Sophomores Claire Kohley and Aynsley Merkins finished just one second apart from each other with times of 23:26 and 23:27, respectively, and finished eighth and ninth.
Junior Hailey Heistand (25:20) finished in 16th place, senior Genevieve Franklin (26:42) was 19th and senior Breanna Cole (26:54) was 20th.
“The girls did flips over the hay bales,” said Fruitpor head coach Randy Johnson. “They had such a great time.”
