The Muskegon Lumberjacks are returning to MuskegonSports.com!
That’s mostly due to the return of veteran Lumberjacks reporter Dave Hart, who previously worked for MuskegonSports.com, and is coming back this fall to help with our regular coverage of Reeths-Puffer, Fruitport and Muskegon Catholic Central high school sports, and lead our Lumberjacks coverage.
The Jacks, who are the two-time defending Eastern Conference champions in the United States Hockey league, and won the coveted Clark Cup as league champions in 2025, will kick off their 2026-27 season in about a month.
They will open at the USHL Fall Classic in Chicago Sept. 16 and 17 against Des Moines and Waterloo, respectively.

Their home opener will be Sept. 25 against the Team USA Under 17 squad at Muskegon’s Trinity Health Arena.
The Lumberjacks will play a 62-game regular season schedule, and MuskegonSports.com will post reports from every game.
“It’s awesome to have Dave back and available to cover the Lumberjacks for us again,” said MuskegonSports.com editor Steve Gunn. “In local sports media, so many reporters are completely tied up with high school sports throughout the fall, winter and spring, but Dave has always had a passion for the Lumberjacks, and has always made it a priority to cover their games and keep the community updated on the how our elite junior hockey team is doing, all season long.”
“I am very excited to continue my Lumberjacks coverage,” Hart said. “This season will be my 13th, and I am very grateful that MuskegonSports.com is helping me keep the coverage alive.”
