LAST YEAR: The Trojan girls had a strong season, finishing third in the O-K Silver conference and finishing fourth at regionals and barely missing out on qualifying as a team for the state finals.
Peyhton Beardsley and Zoe German qualified for the state finals as individuals. Beardsley finished 112th with a time of 20:06 and Zoe finished 139th with a time of 20:23.
LOTS OF GREAT RUNNERS BACK: The Trojans return eight runners from last year’s strong team.
Junior Peyhton Beardsley was All-Conference and state meet qualifier. She finished first in the conference meet, first in the GMAA city meet, ninth at regionals and 112th at the state finals. Her best time last year was 18:56.
Senior Zoe German was All-Conference and a state meet qualifier. She finished fourth in the conference meet, fifth in the city meet, 12th at regionals and 139th at the state finals. Her best time last year was 19:26.
Senior Genevieve Franklin was a state meet qualifier in track and is using this season to up her game for the coming track season.

Sophomore Claire Kohley ran a best time of 20:51 last year and could be the team’s number three runner this season.
Junior Brynley Merkins ran a best time of 22:51 last season.
Sophomore Ansley Merkins ran a best time of 21:20 last season
Senior Breanna Cole has been working hard all summer. Senior Chloe Kohley is another hard worker who has been putting in the miles.
TEAM STRENGTHS/CHALLENGES: The girls are down in numbers this year with no freshmen on the team. The upperclassmen are talented and have great leadership skills. This team may not be large, but they do have the talent to run well.
FIRST COMPETITION: Saturday at the Muskegon Catholic Central Invitational.
COACH COMMENT: “All the runners on the team are motivated and working hard. We have a combination of talent, leadership and youth. It is going to be a fun season watching them develop as a team.”
