Fruitport boys cross country team will build around two returning standout runners

LAST YEAR: The Trojans finished in ourth place in the O-K Silver conference. Christian Pavlige qualified for the state finals as an individual.

BACK THIS YEAR: Junior Christian Pavlige, who was All-Conference runner and state finals qualifier, finished in third place in the conference, fourth at the GMAA city meet, ninth at regionals and 61st at the state finals. His best time last year was 16:25.

Junior Dylan Winskas, who was an honorable mention All-Conference runner, had a season best time of 17:59.

PROMISING NEWCOMERS: Freshman Corbin Jansheski put in the miles this summer and looks to be the No. 3 runner on the squad.

Freshman Landon Przybylek also put in the miles this summer and will likely be the No. 4 runner on the team. [1] [2]

Junior Damon Marksbury has a lot of untapped potential. It will be interesting to see how much he will improve this season.

ROSTER COMPOSITION: The boys team will have eight runners this season – three juniors, two sophomores and three freshman.

TEAM STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: The team is young and lacks depth, but the runners make up for it with great leadership and talent.  The challenge will be getting the freshman competitive and keeping them injury-free.

FIRST COMPETITION: Saturday at the Muskegon Catholic Central Invitational.

COACH QUOTE: “All the runners on the team are motivated and are working hard. We have a combination of talent,
leadership and youth. It is going to be a fun season watching them develop as a team.” – Randy Johnson [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]mini [9] [10] [11] [12]
