The Fruitport softball team put itself into a position to gain a share of the O-K Silver conference championship, with three big wins in two days.
Now the Trojans will have a doubleheader showdown with Belding on Tuesday, with both teams coming in with 8-2 conference records. A sweep would give the Trojans a share of the title with Calvin Christian, which finished its O-K Silver schedule with a 10-2 mark.
The Trojans’ conference surge started on Monday when they split a doubleheader with Hopkins.
Fruitport won the first game 15-6.
The Trojans had 13 hits in the game. Sophie Christopher had three hits, including her third home run of the season. Kendall Lee also had three hits and drove in three runs while Khloe Courtade also knocked in three.

Game 2 did not go so well, with the Trojans falling 19-8.
Fruitport bounced back with two big wins over Comstock Park on Tuesday.
The Trojans won the opener 14-4.
They took the lead with a run in the first inning, and took control with eight more in the third. The big blast came from Lee, who had a two-run double. The other runs came in on bases-loaded walks, a hit batter and a passed ball.

Courtade pitched the win with six strikeouts.
Fruitport completed the sweep with an 18-7 win in Game 2.
The Trojans totaled 19 hits. Christopher and Courtade each had four hits. Christopher knocked in six runs with a three-run homer, and a pair of two-run singles.
Maddie Anderson and Courtade combined to pitch the win.
“Maddie and Khloe have become a great duo for us,” said Fruitport head coach Katelyn Reynolds. “I am proud of the work they have put in and their focus in the circle.
“Monday and Tuesday were back-to-back battles of softball for these girls and they rebounded very quickly from our tough Game 2 against Hopkins. They played clean on both sides of the ball, which was great to see. In Game 1 we did not have one error in the field and that was the main focus – being sharp on defense.”
