The Fruitport softball team is at its best when the bats are booming.

That was certainly the case on Thursday, when the Trojans went to Whitehall and swept a doubleheader from the Vikings, piling up 29 runs.

Things did not go as well for the Trojans on Saturday, however, when they lost both of their games in the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association tournament.

At Whitehall, Fruitport won the opener 12-9 after piling up 15 hits. Kalli Tawney had three hits and four RBIs. Kendall Lee, Mady Prout, Kya Tawney, Maya Aldridge and Sophie Christopher each had two hits.

Kya Tawney drove in three runs. Staring pitcher Bri Chiaverini struck out six batters.
