The Fruitport boys volleyball team is in a learning mode, which means the Trojans try to keep a positive attitude about losses to more experienced opponents.
They struggled on Wednesday, falling to Grand Haven 7-25, 15-25; NorthPointe Christian 8-25, 6-25; and Rockford 16-25, 14-25.
“It was good volleyball for us,” said Fruitport head coach Sam Moore. “We have to play good teams to get better, and tonight was one of those nights. We learned to pass hard serves and play a little defense. We were down 3 players tonight due to other commitments so we had to make some changes and others stepped up.

“Daman Preet wore the libero jersey for the first time and went in when we needed him and did what we needed him to do. Overall, we didn’t come out with a win, but we did come out with some lessons on volleyball.”
Ed Bouchard demonstrated his versatility for the Trojans, offensively and defensively, registering four kills, 11 assists and five digs.
David Johnson-Jimenez had six kills and Gavin Wilson added five. Landon McMullin and Tate Marshall each served two aces.
Defensively, Wilson had nine digs, Johnson-Jimenez had eight, Josh Eppard chipped in five and McMullin totaled four.
