The Fruitport baseball team seems to love playing Hamilton at LMCU Ballpark, the home of the West Michigan Whitecaps.
The Trojans defeated the Hawkeyes 2-1 on Wednesday night in the special matchup at the Comstock Park stadium. Last year they beat Hamilton 4-1 at LMCU.
The victory put a cap on a great week for Fruitport, which posted a 6-1 record in a flurry of games since Saturday.
After a run in the fifth inning gave Hamilton a 1-0 lead, Fruitport responded in the home half of the sixth inning.
The rally started with a Wyatt Fielstra walk before he stole second base. A Satchel Norwood single then put runners on the corners for the Trojans.
A Trevor Rusnak sacrifice fly scored Fielstra and tied the game at 1-1.

Later in the inning a Hamilton error allowed Norwood to score, giving the Trojans a 2-1 lead which stood up.
Avery Lambers picked up the win on the mound, allowing no earned runs on four hits while striking out six in the complete game effort.
Norwood totaled two hits and two stolen bases to pace the Trojan offense.
Fruitport is now 22-5 overall on the season and remains 9-3 in conference play.
“We really couldn’t square up many pitches today,” said head coach Nicholas Reed about the win versus Hamilton. “That’s a credit to Hamilton. They kept us off balance all game long and they are always well coached while fundamentally sound. We were fortunate to do just enough to win. The boys continue to fight to the very end of every game.”
