Fruitport junior Chloe Anderson piled up more postseason honors on Friday, winning a championship in one event and qualifying for the state finals in a total of three events at a Division 2 regional meet at Allendale High School on Friday.
Anderson won the championship in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.20 seconds. She beat out Hopkins’ Riley Homrich, who came in at 26.49.
Anderson also finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.19.
[1]She qualified for state in both races, as well as part of a Fruitport relay team.
Athletes qualified for state by finishing first or second in their event, or by meeting the state standard for time or distance in their event.
Fruitport’s Lily Johnson qualified by finishing in sixth place in the high jump with a distance of 4 feel, 11 inches.
[3]The Trojans’ 4×400 relay team of Gen Franklin, Bailey Garner, Layla Phan and Anderson also qualified for state by finishing fourth with a time of 4:19.9.
The Fruitport girls finished seventh out of 14 in the team competition with 35.5 points. Holland Christian took first place with 187.
The state finals are scheduled for May 30 at Hamilton High School.
