Fruitport’s Chase Marcus found a way to shoot a good round of golf in the miserable weather on Wednesday.
Marcus shot an 18-hole score of 84 and finished 10th individually at the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association Tournament at Chase Hammond Golf Course.
He earned a medal as he finished among the best boys golfers in Muskegon County.

“Chase continues to impress,” said Fruitport head coach Nate Smith. “I know he had a few shots that got away from him, but in true form, he stays focused and battles back the next shot. It’s tough to shake him mentally. It was great to see his hard work pay off.”
It was a good day overall for the Fruitport boys, who finished third in the 12-team field. Mona Shores won the championship with a score of 319, followed by Western Michigan Christian (338) and the Trojans,
Eli Cuti shot an 86 for the Trojans and finished 14th in the individual standings. Tyler Cuti shot an 88 and finished 18th. Landon Lodholtz shot a 91 and finished 24th.
“We did not start off very strong at all,” Smith said. “I think the cold and the elements kind of got to them. But after a few holes the guys really settled in and played pretty well.”
