Chase Marcus had another great day for the Fruitport golf team on Wednesday, shooting a nine-hole score of 40 and finishing fourth in the individual standings in the first O-K Silver conference jamboree of the season, played at Egypt Valley Country Club.
Last week Marcus shot a 43 at the Trojans’ first event of the season – a dual match against Western Michigan Christian – which was the best score on either team.
“Once again, Chase was impressive,” said Fruitport head coach Nate Smith. “His ability to remain focused the entire round really stood out today. He showed he could manage a tough course and played very smart golf.”
[1]Overall Fruitport took third in the event with a team score of 182. NorthPointe Christian took first place with a 151, followed by Calvin Christian with a 173. Comstock Park, Hopkins and Belding finished behind the Trojans.
Rounding out the Fruitport scores were Landon Lodholtz with a 46, and Eli Cuti and Tyler Cuti, who both shot a 47.
“I was very excited to see the way our guys played today,” Smith said. “Egypt Valley is a very tough course, and our guys showed a ton of resilience and belief in their game. When shots didn’t go our way, the guys rallied, moved on to the next shot and finished the hole strong.”
The Trojans will return to action on Friday in another conference jamboree.
