The Fruitport girls track team had an extremely successful night on Friday, winning the championship at its own home invitational meet.
The Trojans had four champions and lots of placers piling up points in other events in the unique event, which awarded medals to the top six athletes in each event, and team points to the top eight.
Fruitport finished with 165 points, Ludington took second with 121, followed by Manistee with 88.5, Reed City with 84, Kenowa Hills with 46, Grand Rapids Union with 36.5 and Grand River Prep with 34.

Fruitport’s Chloe Anderson had a great day, finishing first in both the 100-meter dash (12.93 seconds) and the 200 dash (26.60).

Also picking up first place finishes for the Trojans were Zoe German in the 800-meter run (2:42.00) and Gen Franklin in the 300-meter hurdles (49.53).
Second place performers for Fruitport were Bailey Garner (400 meters), Zoe German (1600 meters and pole vault), Franklin (100 hurdles), and Sallyana Conn (discus).
Finishing third were Milla Dykstra (300 hurdles), Conn (shot put), Breanna Cole (pole vault) and Kyra Marksbury (long jump).

Fourth place finishers were Dykstra (100 hurdles) and Lily Johnosn (high jump).
Layla Phan took fifth place in both the 200 meters and 400 meters. Other fifth-place medalists were Claire Kohley (800 meters), Hailey Heistand (300 hurdles) and Bailey Garner (pole vault).
In sixth place were Kohley (1600 meters) and Anderson (long jump).

The Trojans also had success in the mixed relay events, featuring girls and boys, with the scores counting for both the girls and boys meets.
Fruitport’s 4×100 relay team (Lily Johnson, SeanPaul O’Brien, Johnnie Kempker, Bailey Garner) and the 4 x 400 relay team (Ryder Merkins, Anderson, Christian Pavlige, Franklin) each finishing second.
The 4×200 team (Jyles Smith, Phan, Landen Peck, Dykstra) and the 4×1600 team (Dylan Winskas, Kohley, Pavlige, Landon Johnson) both finished third.
