After a tough loss to rival Spring Lake on Friday, the Fruitport baseball team bounced back in a big way on Tuesday, sweeping Godwin Heights 15-0 and 19-1 in an O-K Silver conference doubleheader.

Hudson Hazekamp was the top star in Game 1, knocking in five runs at the plate and pitching the win with eight strikeouts over three innings.

Avery Lambers added two hits for the Trojans while Garrett Spyke knocked in two runs.

In Game 2, Fruitport pitcher Garrett Olson stuck out nine hitters and allowed one unearned run on one hit over four innings.Satchel Norwood, Dexter Lillmars and Kolton Kennedy each had two hits for the Trojans.

Jon Quigg, Trevor Rusnak and Olson each knocked in two runs.

Fruitport is now 11-2 overall and 5-1 in the conference standings.

“It was a nice bounce-back,” said Fruitport head coach Nick Reed. “The boys were locked in and focused. They had great at-bats and really stayed within themselves offensively. Our pitchers threw strikes and were efficient too.”

The Trojans will visit Whitehall on Thursday before competing in the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association tournament on Saturday.
