This time the tight game went the Trojans’ way.
After dropping 1-0 game to rival Spring Lake last Friday, the Fruitport girls soccer team turned the tables and beat Mona Shores 1-0 on Tuesday night in an exciting non-conference road game.
The victory ended an early-season two-game losing streak for Fruitport, which is now 2-2 on the season. It also ended a two-game scoreless streak for the Trojans, who had not found the net since their opening game win against Hart.

Mona Shores is now 1-3, with two losses in a row coming by one goal.
Fruitport’s Mya Parker scored the only goal of the game with a long shot with 1:15 remaining in the first half.
Regan Wilson assisted on the goal.
Senior goalie Ava Powell came up huge for the Trojans, making nine saves to post the shutout victory, Fruitport’s second of the season.

Strong defensive efforts from Shea Harrison, Izzy Hanson-Wilbur, Kaylynn Pavlich, Maycees Hall and McKenna Joslyn helped keep the Sailors off the scoreboard.
“We have been working on putting together a full 80 minute game,” said Fruitport head coach Kyle Hall. “Tonight the girls showed that they are capable of doing so against a very good and well-coached Mona Shores team.”
The Trojans will return to action on April 15 after spring break, when they will open O-K Silver conference play on the road against Godwin Heights.
