The Fruitport girls basketball team is showing some real fight, at the perfect time of the season.

The Trojans won their second game in a row on Thursday, getting scoring contributions from eight different players in a 42-36 victory over North Muskegon.

The Trojans, now 9-12, will wrap up the regular season with a game at Newaygo on Friday night, before heading into Division 2 districts next week.

The game was tight from start to finish. Fruitport led 14-13 after one quarter, 26-22 at halftime and 33-30 after three quarters.

Ava Powell, who totaled 10 points and 9 rebounds.

The Trojans sealed up the win with a 9-6 edge in the fourth quarter. Izzy Hanson-Wilbur tossed in six points in the fourth while Ava Powell added three points and Regan Wilson tossed in two.

A total of eight Trojans scored points in the game.

Hanson-Wilbur had 11 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Powell totaled 10 points, five rebounds and one assist.

Also putting up points for the Trojans were Lily Jobnson, Cierra Fri, Kendall Lee, Alexa Sweet and Kya Tawney.

“Ava Powell had a night!” said Fruitport head coach Brian Packard. “Kya Tawney had two great drives to the hoop and got their team in foul trouble. We switched up our defense again halfway through the game and we were able to hold on.”storagemini
