The Fruitport boys bowling team was expected to compete for an O-K Silver conference championship this season.
The Fruitport girls team was not.
Yet both teams will head into Friday’s conference tournament in first place in the O-K Silver standings, with a good chance of winning titles.

The girls team wrapped up its dual match season on Tuesday with a 27-3 victory over NorthPointe Christian.
Ava Bradshaw led the way with a 259 series that included a career-high game of 162, Gen Franklin had a 329 series that included her season-high game of 180, and Harper Simila had a 287 series that included a 171 game.
That victory followed an easy 28-2 win over Godwin Heights on Friday.
Bradshaw led the way in that match, as well, posting a 273 series (135-138). Kyleigh O’Connell had a 245 series (144-101) and Simila had a 235 series (126-109).

Fruitport finished the dual season with a 12-2 overall record and a 10-2 mark in conference play.
“Our team is extremely proud to finish our conference match play with a 10-2 record,” said Fruitport head coach Tim McKeeby. “We are excited to roll into the conference tournament sitting in first place and are determined to win a title.
“Huge shoutout to Ava, Genevieve, Mya, Kyleigh, Harper, and Maddie for not only being awesome bowlers this season, but amazing people!”
