The Fruitport boys bowling team is headed to the O-K Silver conference tournament on Friday in first place in the standings, with a good chance of clinching the conference championship.
The Trojans have gone 3-0 in a whirlwind of O-K Silver matches since last Friday, beating Godwin Heights, NorthPointe Christian and Calvin Christian.
That left the team with a 15-1 overall record and a 13-1 mark in conference play. The Trojans will go into the conference tournament with a six-point lead over the second-place team.
[1]Meawhile, two Trojans, senior Keenan Camp and junior Bradley Dekker, reached important career benchmarks over the past few matches.
Dekker surpassed the 11,000 pin total in conference play while Camp surpassed the 10,000 pin mark. Both totals are very impressive, according to Fruitport head coach Tim McKeeby.
“Camp’s 10,000 and Dekker’s 11,000 are very major milestones, especially in the amount of time it took to accomplish them,” McKeeby said. “Camp accomplished this feat in two and a half seasons of varsity play and Dekker accomplished 11,000 in two and three-quarter seasons.
“We are extremely proud of Keenan and Bradley for hitting these milestones. It proves they are two of the best bowlers in the area. Most people do not know that Bradley and Keenan are best friends. It brings us a lot of joy that these two were able to accomplish these impressive milestones together.”
