It’s hard to imagine how the Fruitport boys basketball team can continue to go unmentioned in the Division 2 state rankings listed by the Michigan High School Athletic Association.

The Trojans just keep plowing through their opponents, and haven’t lost a game in nearly two months.

Fruitport won its 11th straight game on Tuesday with a 62-49 victory over Belding in O-K Silver conference action.

DayDay Williams, who  scored 24 points.

The Trojans are now 13-2 overall and 7-0 and and in first place in the conference standings, one game ahead of NorthPointe Christian.

It took a while for the Trojans to pull away from the Black Knights. They only led 18-15 after one quarter and 29-15 at halftime, before taking control with a 16-5 advantage in the third quarter.

The main scoring hero was senior DayDay Williams, who pumped in 24 points, including three triples.

Junior Brady Hanson also had a big game, knocking down four three-pointers to account for all of his 12 points. Sophomore Dexter Lillmars also finished with 12.

“DayDay Williams played an excellent and efficient all-around game tonight, scoring inside and outside,” said Fruitport head coach Steve Erny. “Brady Hanson stepped up and hit his open looks when they were there.

“We continue to prove to be a hard team to guard, especially when we push the pace and move the ball, and I thought we did a pretty good job with that tonight. We must continue to stay sharp and stay together as we hit the home stretch of the season over the next couple of weeks.
