Nobody expected the Fruitport girls bowling team to contend for a conference championship this season, so second place is not bad at all.
The Trojans entered Friday’s O-K Silver Conference Postseason Tournament tied for first place with Hopkins. They finished second at the tournament behind the Vikings, so Hopkins won the overall title and Fruitport finished second.
[1]Fruitport’s Kyleigh O’Connell finished fifth in the individual tournament standings with a 418 series. Genevieve Franklin finished ninth with a 386 series.
In the overall season conference standings, Franklin was fifth with a 130.2 average, Harper Simila was sixth with a 129.65 average and O’Connell was seventh at 126.65.
All three of those bowlers earned All-Conference honors while Ava Bradshaw (114.24 average) was honorable mention.

“This team has been very special all season,” said Fruitport head coach Tim McKeeby. “These girls were determined to work hard and fight for a conference title and they did to the very end.
“We are not disappointed or discouraged. We are proud and excited for the future! Huge shout out to our three all-conference placers and our all-conference honorable mention. We cannot wait to bowl our best at regionals next week.”
