The Fruitport boys bowling team had some serious challenges on back-to-back nights this week, but emerged with its perfect record intact.
The Trojans down Kelloggsville in a two-point squeaker on Wednesday, then downed Belding in a battle for first place in the O-K Silver conference on Thursday.
Fruitport is now 7-0 on the season and 5-0 in the conference standings.
The closer match was against Kelloggsville, when the Trojans came from behind to pull out a tight 16-14 victory.
Fruitport dug itself an early hole by losing both baker games and falling behind 10-0. But the Trojans clawed back in the two regular games and managed to pull out the victory.

They won Game 1 by a score of 828-736 to earn four points. They also outscored Kelloggsville 3-2 in the individual matchups in the game and cut their deficit to 12-7.
Troy Dykstra, Keenan Camp and Peyton Wirt won their Game 1 individual matchups. Wirt bowled a 199 and Camp came in at 198.
Fruitport won Game 2 by a score of 754-727 and earned four more points. The Trojans again had a 3-2 edge in the individual matchups, leaving the match score tied at 14-14.
Camp, Corbin Judd and Remy Parker posted the matchup wins in Game 2. Camp had the high score with a 203.
The winner was ultimately decided by overall pin count in the two regular games. Fruitport came out on top 1,582-1,463, got the two-point bonus and the victory.

“We have a very good team that can handle adversity well, and we did just that,” said Fruitport head coach Tim McKeeby after the Kelloggsville match. “Our kids and the whole coaching staff knew that it was an uphill battle, but we kept our focus, made the right adjustments, and won. Huge shout out to Troy Dykstra and Remy Parker for stepping up and winning their points when we needed it the most.”
The Trojans also got a big challenge on Thursday, beating Belding 19-11 in a showdown of undefeated teams.
This time the Trojans dominated the baker rounds and took the 10-0 lead.
They also won Game 1 in the regular rounds 813-804, and won three individual matchups to take a big 17-2 lead.
Dylan Winskas, Judd and Camp won their Game 1 matchups. Camp has the high score with a 201.

Belding battled back, winning Game 2 856-804 and three of the five individual matchups, making the match score 19-9. Parker and Wirt were individual winners for Fruitport in the second game, with Wirt tossing a team-high game of 196.
Belding won the overall regular game pin count bonus points to make the score 19-11, but that was as close as it got.
“Our boys are mentally tough,” Coach McKeeby said. “We tuned out internal and external distractions and focused on doing our job.”
