The game did not reach blowout proportions until the fourth quarter.

Lillmars scored 12 points in the fourth quarter, including two triples and four free throws. Hudson Hazekamp added five in the big quarter while Brady Hanson tossed in a triple.

“Hopkins played well tonight and gave us some trouble, especially in the second and third quarters,” said Fruitport head coach Steve Erny. “But we were able to answer any run they made and keep our lead safe. We outscored them 27-12 in the fourth quarter, as we did a much better job handling some of their pressures and putting the game away.

“Dexter Lillmars has been consistently excellent for us this season, and was once again deadly from the outside, as well as efficient around the basket. He’s playing great basketball right now. But when we get our other guys going, and especially when it’s a few other guys, I’ll always like our chances.”storage

Hazekamp finished with 14 points and Hanson finished with a career-high 12, all on four triples.

“He’s one of our leaders, and always brings it on the defensive side of the ball, but it was great seeing him knock down open shots tonight, as we know he is capable of doing,” Coach Erny said about Hanson.

Fruitport will have a big test on Friday, traveling to face Northpointe Christian for  a showdown for first place in the O-K Silver.mini
