The Fruitport boys basketball team picked up a hard-fought road win on Friday night, defeating Kelloggsville 58-52 in O-K Silver conference action.
The Trojans won their 10th straight game and improved to 12-2 overall and 6-0 in conference play.
Fruitport sophomore Dexter Lillmars had a big night, dropping 30 points.
[1]That total included four three-pointers in the first quarter, which helped the Trojans lead 18-13 heading into the second.
“He got us off and running,” Fruitport head coach Steve Erny said about Lillmars.
In the second quarter, the Trojans stretched the lead to 34-20 at halftime behind seven points from Lillmars and six points from DayDay Williams.
Kelloggsville fought back a bit in the third quarter, outscoring Fruitport 19-14 to cut the Trojan lead to 48-39 heading into the fourth.

“Kelloggsville plays hard and physical,” Erny said. “We did a pretty good job of rising to the challenge. Toughness in these types of matchups is required. We have plenty to work on, especially as we look to finish games and put teams away.”
In the final quarter, Fruitport was once again outscored, this time 13-10, but was able to hold on for the win.
Williams finished with 10 points while Hudson Hazekamp added eight for the Trojans.
The Trojans will continue conference play on Tuesday when they travel to Belding.
