The Fruitport girls basketball team never really got going offensively on Saturday, and ended up falling 45-27 to Muskegon Catholic Central in a non-conference matchup.
The Trojans started out slowly, but so did MCC, and Fruitport was still very much in the game for the entire first half.
The Trojans trailed 9-4 after one quarter and 17-14 after halftime.
The big difference came in the third quarter, when the Crusaders started finding the mark and outscored Fruitport 12-2 to take a 29-16 lead.

MCC sealed up the win with a 16-11 advantage in the final quarter.
The Trojans were at a disadvantage, playing without their leading scorer, junior Izzy Hanson-Wilbur, who missed the game due to a family function.
Fruitport also struggled earlier in the season when Hanson-Wilbur was injured for several games.
Freshman Regan Wilson led Fruitport with eight points while Ava Powell added five. No other team statistics were available.
“We came out of the gate super slow,” said Fruitport head coach Brian Packard. “Gained some momentum in the second, but just couldn’t get any flow offensively. We were back to having high 20s in turnovers and a lot of silly mistakes.”
Fruitport, now 2-4 on the season, will open O-K Silver conference play with a game at Belding on Tuesday.
