A lack of offense doomed the Fruitport girls basketball team on Tuesday in a 42-31 loss to Hopkins in O-K Silver conference action.
Hopkins had a 15-8 lead after one quarter, 20-12 at halftime and 27-21 after three quarters.
The Vikings nailed down the win with a 15-10 advantage in the fourth quarter.
[1]The Trojans missed a lot of shots, from the floor and the free-throw line, where they only made 10 of 27 attempts.
Izzy Hanson-Wilbur scored 18 points for Fruitport, but nobody else on the team scored more than four points.
“Hopkins is a tough-nosed, extremely physical team,” said Fruitport head coach Brian Packard. “We knew that coming in. We did a really good job of battling everywhere. They tried to make the game ugly and were pretty successful, but we never gave up.

“Overall all this was a step in the right direction for our team, We missed a lot of shots that could have given us a better outcome, but that’s the game of basketball. Gotta make the ones you get. Our defense once again was outstanding, we just don’t score enough.”
The Trojans, now 4-5 overall and 2-1 in conference play, will visit NorthPointe Christian on Friday night.
