A couple of low-scoring quarters and poor free throw shooting doomed the Fruitport girls basketball team in a 54-35 loss to NorthPointe Christian on Wednesday in O-K Silver conference action.
The Trojans started out slowly and trailed 15-6 after one quarter.
Fruitport rebounded in the second quarter, outscoring NorthPointe 12-7 and narrowing its deficit to 22-18 at halftime.
Izzy Hanson-Wilbur led the Trojans with seven points in the second quarter.

The home team took control with an 18-10 edge in the third quarter and led 40-28 heading into the fourth. Hanson-Wilbur had six points in the third.
NorthPointe Christian closed out the win with a 14-7 edge in the fourth quarter.
Fruitport made only 6 of 18 shots from the free throw line, including 2 of 8 in the final quarter.
“We definitely were a little rusty coming out of the gate and they got out to a quick lead,” said Fruitport head coach Brian Packard. “We battled back in the second to make it close going into the second half. They had a good third quarter and pulled away. We couldn’t recover from there.”
Hanson-Wilbur led the Trojans with 15 points, Cierra Fri added seven and Regan Wilson scored six.
The Trojans, now 4-6 overall and 2-3 in conference play, will visit Kelloggsville on Friday.
