Come-from-behind wins build confidence and momentum, as the Fruitport girls bowling team demonstrated this week.
The Trojans came from 10 points behind to beat Kelloggsville on Monday, then kept rolling with an impressive 22-8 victory over Hopkins on Wednesday in O-K Silver conference action.
The latest victory gave Fruitport a 3-0 overall record and a 2-0 conference mark. Not bad for a team that finished well below the .500 mark last season.

The Trojans got off to a good start, winning one of two baker games, plus the baker bonus points, to take a 6-4 lead.
They won Game 1 by a score of 600-537 to earn another four points. Mya Herrygers, Kyleigh O’Connell and Gen Franklin (high score 145) each won their head-to-head games, earning three more team points and putting Fruitport up 13-6.
The Trojans also won Game 2, 582-568, for four more points. Maddie Smith, O’Connell and Franklin (high score 156) beat their opponents, adding three more points.
Fruitport also won the two bonus points for winning the combined pin battle in the two regular games.
“We went into this match knowing that our opponent is a very solid team, but our girls were determined to win,” said Fruitport head coach Tim McKeeby. “Our team started off strong by winning six points in the baker games, including rolling a 170 baker!
“We continued to stay positive and focused throughout the regular games and ended up picking up a sweet victory. Genevieve Franklin was our most valuable bowler with a 301 two-game series!”
