The Fruitport boys basketball team is now officially on a roll, after winning its third consecutive game.

The Trojans trailed by a point after three quarters, but took control in the fourth and beat Lowell 55-46 in the championship game of the Cornerstone University Holiday Showcase.

The winning streak follows a tough stretch for the Trojans, when they lost to Mona Shores and Spring Lake in one week – but now it’s clear they’ve have put that in their rear view mirror.

DayDay Williams: 19 points, six rebounds and three steals.

“We gutted this one out, and closed the game well,” said Fruitport head coach Steve Erny. “DayDay Williams and Dexter Lillmars did an excellent job down the stretch of handling the ball and making winning plays. Garrett Olson played a solid game, both defensively and offensively, as well.

Dexter Lillmars: 17 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.

“We’ve been doing an excellent job of getting to the line, but today we also hit those free throws, going 14-for-20 for the game. We did not shoot well from the outside tonight, and while it wasn’t the prettiest game, the team did a great job.”

Fruitport led 15-12 after one quarter and 32-26 at halftime. Lowell fought back, had a 16-9 edge in the third quarter, and led 42-41 heading into the fourth.
